6" Fluorescent Firebox Housing. In all multi-story public buildings, interior walls and floor/ceiling assemblies are required to comply with an hourly fire rating. This rating identifies the amount of time it takes for a fire to pass through these barriers and, thus, the amount of time occupants have to exit the building in case of fire. Traditional downlighting in these applications voids the fire rating of the barrier and requires expensive additional construction to restore the fire rating. Firebox) solves this problem with the industry's first UL classified recessed housing to maintain fire ratings. For use in UL L500 & G531 fire rated ceiling assemblies (2-hour rating).
